CAWI Adoption fees: CAWI charges adoption fees to help cover the costs we have spent on the dog. Every CAWI dog is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated, plus up to date with parasite prevention. Our fees for adoption are $300 for an adult dog, $350 for a puppy and $200 for a mature age dog.
CAWI takes pride in matching dogs with the right homes. We can advise on the dogs’ suitability as we have the insight gained by our foster carers. In addition, there is a 3 week trial and cooling off period for you and the dog – if things aren’t working out CAWI will take the dog back. We don’t want any mistakes for you or the dog.
The dogs on this page are CAWI rescue dogs. Some non-CAWI dogs that are looking for new homes are advertised on the PRIVATE ADS page.
Pounds often have nice dogs – there are some choice candidates advertised ON THIS PAGE OF OUR WEBSITE. It’s also worth contacting your local pound.

SENSATIONAL NEWS: – Bella has gone on trial to her new forever family. Congratulations to all involved. A special big thank you to her foster carers who exercised and looked after her so well.

Bella is a desexed female six and a half year old Wolfhound x. She is very intelligent, high energy and good with other dogs. Bella would make a great family dog with older children as long as she is included in all family activities. She loves going out for walks and runs and loves chasing the ball. She would be a loyal, loving, perfect family dog or very suitable for a couple or person who enjoys regular exercise. Adoption fee applies. Phone Margaret at CAWI on 0458461935

GREAT NEWS: Charlie has gone on trial and is loving his new home. So excited for him. Go Charlie!

A handsome boy – hard to believe he had come from the pound. Adoption fee applies, Phone Margaret at CAWI on 0458 461 935 for more details.

  • Rusty
  • UPDATE: Rusty has now gone on trial to his new family.
  • UPDATE:  Rusty will be going on trial to his new forever home in late July.
  • Rusty is a desexed 2yr old male purebred Aust. red cattle dog. He has been in our care for three months. He was rescued from Kyogle area where he had been neglected and tied up in a shed with a heavy, tight chain around his neck. We suspect he had been treated in this way because he wouldn’t work properly.
Rusty has now put on weight and thanks to his devoted carer who takes him to the beach every day – Rusty has now learnt how to play with other dogs. He is a very affectionate dog and follows his male carer everywhere.
Rusty, even though born to be a working dog has now adjusted to small town living as long as he has regular exercise and visits to the beach. He is a inside/outside dog.
Rusty is untested around children (fine with adults). He still displays some of the cattle dog traits. We know he chases horses and we wouldn’t recommend him around cats or chickens. Rusty is a loyal and high energy dog. He would suit a home with a nice natured female dog of similar weight and energy level.  CAWI is hoping to find a lifelong home with someone who has extensive knowledge of the cattle dog breed.
    Adoption fee is $300.00.
